

Mayfair Witches would be more entertaining if it embraced that tone, with all its lurid twists and over-the-top characters, rather than holding back. Lasher is meant to be seductive and alluring, but the producers dress Huston in awkward boxy suits that make him look like a 1980s stockbroker, and he doesn't quite have the enticing presence to make Lasher much more than leering and creepy. Carlotta sees him as a threat, while Rowan's great-uncle Cortland (Harry Hamlin) believes that Lasher is a blessing, a powerful force that the Mayfairs can harness. Still, the present-day story gets more exciting as Rowan learns more about the mysterious being known as Lasher (Jack Huston), a specter or demon who's been bound to the Mayfair women for centuries.
